Born in Nashville, Tennessee on October 1, 1967, Kathy Liebert was raised on Long Islang, New York. She obtained her bachelor's degree in business and finance from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York and eventually worked for the company Dun & Bradstreet. Kathy Liebert was not very happy being involved with the corporate world and so she eventually quit her job. With her stock investments, she was able to support herself financially and even had the opportunity to travel across the United States.

The career of Kathy Liebert in poker began when she worked as a prop player in casinos in Colorado. One time, after work, a friend of hers told her that she has started to become a good poker player that she should try to venture into playing professional poker. It did not take long for her to be convinced, and so, she left her job as a prop player and started to play full-time professional poker soon thereafter.

Kathy Liebert always displays a silent demeanor at poker tables. As soon as she positions herself in front of her opponents, she projects full concentration on her play. At first, such behavior did not intimidate other poker professionals, but this female poker professional was able to prove that being silent could actually mean victory.

It was in 2002 when Kathy Liebert first proved her poker skills to all poker enthusiasts. She participated in the first limit poker event of the Party Poker Million and left everyone in awe when she placed first, winning the cash prize of US$1,000,000. From that day on, Kathy Liebert knew that she would want to continue being a female poker professional.

In 2004, Kathy Liebert once again proved her stellar poker skills to the world with her victory in US$1,500 Limit Texas Hold'em Shootout event of the World Series of Poker. She placed first and received her very first World Series of Poker bracelet. 2004 was like the year of female poker professionals because two other women won in different events of the World Series of Poker, namely, Annie Duke and Cyndy Violette.

Kathy Liebert is considered as the female poker professional who has generated the highest winnings from live poker tournaments. But poker is not the only thing that keeps this female poker professional busy. She continues to invest in stocks and is a blue-belter in karate.
